Nigeria is known to be a democratic nation, at 356,699 square miles with over 190 million people, Nigeria is the most populos country in africa and the 7th most populos country in the world.
Nigeria is a developing country and as of 2015 it was ranked 20th in the worlds largest economy, Nigeria is referred to as "giant of Africa" owning to its largest economy and population, the official language is english.
Nigeria is known for its production and exportation of crude oil. the petrolum industry of Nigeria is the largest in Nigeria. the most productive region is the niger delta region or south south which encompasses 78 of 159 fields Nigerian oil is termed nice and sweet as it is free from sulphur.
Nigeria is the largest producers of sweet oil in OPEC. Nigeria is also a strong political and cultural force across the African continent. Nigeria runs a multi-party system with over 30 political parties, its government is divided into the legislative, the judiciary and the executives.

16 - 18th centuries - slave trade: millions of Nigerians were forcibly sent to America.
1850s - Britain establishes presence around lagos which it consolidates over the next 70years as the colony and protectorate in Nigeria. in 1992 part of former german colony kamerun is added under leagues of nations mandate.
1960 : Independence with prime minister sir Abubakar Tafawa belewa leading a coalition government. He is killed in a coup in 1966.
1967: Three eastern states secedes as the republic of biafra, sparking a bloody civil war.
1983: Major general Muhammadu Buhari seizes power in a bloodless coup, ushering in a period of 16years of government overthrows and political instability, capped by the 1999 presidential and parliamenty elections.
2010: Following the president Yar' Adua's death on 15th may 2010, vice president Goodluck Jonathan was sworn in as the acting president of the federal republic of Nigeria on may 6th 2010 making him the 14th head of state. and the first president from the south south.
2015: Muhammadu Buhari wins presidential election being the first opposition candidate to do so.
